Say YES to your dreams
Principle #7 in my book: Re-Invent Yourself is NEVER GIVE UP. These are more than just feel good words. It’s a universal principle that will deliver if you are patient and diligent. You will find no greater challenge in your life to persevere against the grain when you are trying to cut a new trail.
To give up is to cut the momentum circuit! Set back and unexpected mishaps are inevitable. These are part of growth. You need to keep moving because you can’t steer a parked car. No course correction can happen if you stand still.
“A step in the wrong direction is better than staying on the spot all our life.
Once you are moving forward you can correct your course as you go.
Your automatic guidance system cannot guide you when you stand still.”
Maxwell Maltz
Just think about it. You’re stepping into a new and uncharted territory. Sure, someone has probably already been there before, but it’s easier to convince yourself that others were more capable and more qualified than you.
It makes sense to tell yourself that they had the tools. I’m sure you’ve heard this phrase before: the grass is always greener on the other side. The truth of the matter is: the grass is greener where you water it.
One of life secrets is to make the most of what we have in front of us. There is no one fixed way of how to “do” life. You can ‘do” it any way you want. If you achieve the things you want and the things you desire—if you can say that you are truly happy and not constantly searching for something else—then you’ve found it. You figured it out!
These are the successes we see around us. They inspire us, motivate us, and encourage us to pursue our deepest unspoken dreams so that we can be happy. But the next day when we wake up, where is our resolve?
Is it still back on our pillows, waiting for us to pick up and dream about later? Or is it something we remind ourselves of daily, hourly, or even minute-by-minute to keep on track?
I understand that many people face extreme hardships throughout their lives. Unwanted pregnancies, job losses, death, and illnesses of close friends or family members. These are things that are simply unavoidable in some cases, tragic in others, but all are a natural process in life.
Don’t wish that your burden in life were lighter or easier. Instead, wish that your back was stronger. But don’t stop there; make your back stronger through diligence, perseverance, and employing these seven principles that are sure to guide you to personal success.
